Coffee, like all produce is distinctly seasonal. Eating foods that are grown in season allow us to enjoy foods that are at their peak of quality and flavor. This is why Alta Organic Coffee buys and roasts coffee that has been recently harvested.
Coffee harvest season depends on the hemisphere from which the coffee originates. A coffee crop is linked to the rainy season so the date of harvest can vary from year to year. Harvest occurs when the rainy season ends and the coffee fruit is red, ripe and sweet.
As a roaster, we receive the dried coffee beans within three months of harvest. We encourage our customers to use this as an opportunity to drink coffees from around the world at their seasonal peak. Enjoy and savor diversity!
